The position is located in Sells, AZ Position Summary: Under limited supervision, supervises and coordinates the operations of a division or program in accordance with established goals and objectives. Develops and sets procedures within established polices to ensure quality service delivery. The work is normally reviewed upon completion to ensure compliance with general organization/department goals, policies and procedures. Major work activities are covered by procedures or guidelines permitting flexibility in selecting methods to utilize and procedures to follow, determination of work priorities, and the planning and coordination of projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Depending on area of assignment, incumbent may not be required to perform some of the duties listed below) : Improves staff effectiveness by coaching, counseling, training and recommending disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner. Oversees, supervises, coordinates, and determines priorities of work load, monitoring levels of resources, establishing time lines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions, writing, reviewing and editing reports prepared by staff, and approving completed projects and reports. Ensures compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the program. Conducts quality audits and writes reports, as needed. Provides administrative and other support essentials to the completion of program objectives. Organizes schedules and conducts various departmental meetings. Participates in the development of program budgets. Contributes to the needs of the community by implementing and causing others to implement the department's values and strategies by leading through example, competency, and accountabilities. Reviews case activity to ensure information is complete and that cases are updated on a regular basis. Handles specific aspects of difficult cases. Monitors and analyzes collection of data and accounts using computer generated reports. Provides customer service by responding to information requests, conducting research, providing solutions to problems, and correcting errors. Performs other job related duties as assigned and contributes to a team effort. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions. Considerable knowledge of the economic, educational, health and social problems of Native Americans. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements. Knowledge of communication skills and interview techniques, court procedures. Knowledge of case review practices and techniques. Knowledge of record maintenance and case management practices. Skill in supervising and evaluating assigned staff. Skill in providing superior customer service to external and internal customers. Ability to acquire pertinent information from a variety of individuals, in conflict situations. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to correctly evaluate information and initiate action in accordance with established standards and within established time frames. Ability to apply training and supervisory techniques. Ability to analyze information, draw logical conclusions and make sound recommendations. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines. Ability to travel throughout the internal boundaries of the Nation. Ability to work extended hours and various work schedules. Ability to maintain privileged confidential information. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management or closely related field; and two years' work experience in the supervision or management of a program or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position. One year of supervisory experience. Licenses, Certifications, Special Requirements: Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background check is required to determine suitability for hire, including a 39-month Motor Vehicle Record. May require possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license, (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years). If required, must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles. Based on the department's needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English as a condition of employment.
