Advanced Food Systems, Inc, based in Somerset, NJ is looking for a hands-on Food Scientist / Technologist. For over 35 years, Advanced Food Systems has been developing and manufacturing customized ingredient systems for a wide range of retail, food-service, and food processing companies in almost every food category. Our functional ingredient systems are developed through the creative combination of ingredient technology, industry insight, culinary expertise and processing experience.What you will do:Apply principles of food science and culinary arts to develop proprietary, cost effective ingredient systems solving customer's greatest challenges.You will design and conduct experiments, overcome formulation challenges, and develop new, innovative ideas to expand our business.Evaluate ingredients for their suitability in food and beverage applications with respect to sensory, stability and processing.Work on the bench developing / evaluating applications.Compounding samples.What you should bring with you:Understanding the function of ingredients (starch, protein, hydrocolloids, colors, spices and other emerging functional clean label ingredients) and how they interact with common ingredients in a variety of food applications.Strong formulation skills and understanding of food systems.Solid organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.High energy, creativity, dedication, personal ownership, and intellectual curiosity and willing to continually learn.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Approach problem solving and challenges with a positive attitude.Ability to quickly adapt to change.Knowledge of a wide range of cuisines.Bachelor's in Food Science or Culinary required.At Advanced Food Systems, every person is important and we look forward to your contribution.
