About the position. The Assistant Buyer works closely with the buyer and is the liaison between the buying and sales teams. Excellent communication is required, must be knowledgeable about product, and must be able to understand budgets. Some travel is required. Primary Responsibilities Product knowledge clinics Incentive contests - encouraging excitement with team Special orders Presale orders seasonally Communicate with sales team to build excitement around low selling products, web, social to strategize, pulling product from store for returns and swaps Seasonal trend/market reports Assist with seasonal budgets Supervise all parts of buying process, including logistics and product/sales initiatives Assist with any outlier issues Point person for larger conversations with vendors involving payment terms, shipment terms, co-op dollars, partnership opportunities Communicate top-level buying initiatives across all departments Analyze sell-through reports, action swaps, and RTVs to increase profitability Reorder product (sunglasses, books, wine glasses, etc.) and denim buys Work with accounting to prioritize supplier payments weekly as applicable Compile seasonal budgets OR approve seasonal budgets from product/sales focus position Analyze processes, product by category, vendor, and open to buys The Assistant Buyer Reports to the Buyer.
